N Nathan is a versatile and self-taught artist who, depending on the project he is working on, experiments with different artistic techniques in order to capture the viewer's attention...

What inspired you to create works of art and to become an artist? (events, feelings, experiences...)

At the start it's rather simple: I was born in 77 so I was a teenager in 90, right in the hip-hop movement. Graffiti, American culture invaded the airwaves, the streets and the walls. That's how it started… without ever being able to imagine that one day I would make a career out of it!

What is your artistic background, the techniques and subjects you have experimented with so far?

I don't have a classic artistic background, I didn't go to art school, I am self-taught and touch everything. In terms of technique, it's quite mixed, I use a lot of them and choose them according to the project.

What are the 3 aspects that differentiate you from other artists, making your work unique?

Frankly, nothing differentiates me from others. I am an artist like the others with my vision of art. I realize my works according to my desires and inspirations while remaining faithful to myself.

Where does your inspiration come from?

From everywhere, everything inspires me! I look around me, I try to be attentive to every sign.

What is your artistic approach? What visions, sensations or feelings do you want to evoke in the viewer?

Challenge, catch the attention of the spectator during an exhibition and of course know why! I want my work to evoke pleasure and emotion in the viewer and for my clients to want and be proud to exhibit it at home.

What is the process of creating your works? Spontaneous or with a long preparatory process (technical, inspiration from art classics or other)?

At first I was very spontaneous, I was going too fast, I was too impatient to put my ideas on a support. Now I admit I redo the work several times in my head with variations, but sometimes I still go there on instinct without thinking and I have a blast! For other more complex pieces (such as the Amex or the sculptures), there are several long months of work upstream.

Do you use a particular working technique? if so, can you explain it?

Yes lately, I've been working a lot with digital. After several months of work I have perfected a relief technique (visual and tactile) of which I am quite proud. I also make works in

3D. For the rest, everyone has their little secret technique… ;-)

Are there any innovative aspects in your work? Can you tell us which ones?

Innovative, yes of course! Just look at some of my latest works.

Do you have a format or medium that you are most comfortable with? if yes, why ?

The bigger it is, the more I like it! But apart from the pleasure, I like to make reasonable formats for

everyone can benefit from it.

Where do you produce your works? At home, in a shared workshop or in your own workshop? And in this space, how do you organize your creative work?

I am lucky to have my own workshop with several positions. A place where I feel good and where I like to work, which resembles me with lots of new ideas and new projects on post-its everywhere.

Does your work lead you to travel to meet new collectors, for fairs or exhibitions? If so, what does it bring you?

Yes since the beginning of 2022 here we go again, exhibitions, fairs, events and that's where we understand the hours spent in the studio, it's 100% pleasure! Always with a warm welcome!

How do you imagine the evolution of your work and your career as an artist in the future?

We will see tomorrow ! I work like this.

What is the theme, style or technique of your latest artistic production?

A new poly-mirror bronze sculpture which is almost finished (scheduled for an exhibition in June 2022 in Monaco).

Can you tell us about your most important exhibition experience?

I loved the last one! The New Year's Eve party on December 31, 2021 in Courchevel, after 2 years of Covid, you can imagine what a pleasure to be able to share this!

If you could have created a famous work in the history of art, which one would you choose? And why ?

Then it would surely be Banksy's self-destructive frame (for the work the girl with the balloon) triggered at the auction at Sotheby's! Pure genius...

If you could invite one famous artist (dead or alive) to dinner, who would it be? How would you suggest he spend the evening?

It's a complicated question… maybe Daly for his madness or Banksy for knowing “The Secret”, or Warhol, or Basquiat or even Haring. Frankly I do not know. A place, a jazz club
