Martin Singer est un artiste français contemporain dont le parcours artistique a débuté à sa sortie des Beaux-Arts dans les années 90. Sa passion pour la peinture a toujours été le moteur de sa création.
Attaché à questionner son médium de prédilection, il en est parvenu à travailler sur le mode de sa présentation le plus souvent mis en œuvre qu'est le cadre. Mais au-delà du cadre, se précise des questions plus générales : le hors champ, la frontière, le dedans-dehors.
Dessinateur passionné, chaque œuvre a fait l'objet de nombreuses esquisses, du gribouillis le plus spontané au plan millimétré rappelant le dessin industriel. Travail fastidieux mais nécessaire en vue de la bonne fabrication de l'ouvrage.
Le plus souvent, l'artiste fabrique ses cadres lui-même avec la précision d'un artisan menuisier, cadre qu'il polit, vernit ou peint selon les nécessités du projet. Ce travail fait main donne à chaque œuvre une facture unique, personnelle et très originale.
