Preston M. Smith is een hedendaagse Amerikaanse schilder en beeldhouwer. Hij maakt prachtige abstracte schilderijen die orde in wanorde weerspiegelen, schoonheid in waanzin. Hij is geïnteresseerd in constructie en deconstructie en probeert altijd te werken in een staat van pure emotie.
In de loop der jaren is Smiths kunstwerk veranderd van humeurige surrealistische popschilderijen in levendig kleurrijke, tactiele, zeer gestructureerde en bijna eetbare abstracte werken. Zijn mantra voor zijn abstracte werk is kleur, textuur, schoonheid en verval, en zijn werk en leven zijn een uitdrukking van het bewegen van duisternis naar licht.
