Nikolay Shelest (1936) has been a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1973 and holds the title of Honored Artist in Ukraine and Poland.
The works of the artist are not just aesthetic images but also symbols embodying the spirit of the Ukrainian people, their history, and culture.
Renowned for his virtuosity in graphics, Shelest possesses the ability to deeply feel and interpret each artistic technique, creating artworks that captivate with their harmony of colors and nuances.
His etchings and engravings are characterized by a textured stroke and a gentle dynamic range of tones. Shelest is also known for his portraits, which serve as psychological studies of characters.
Shelest's recognition extends beyond Ukraine. His graphics and drawings are featured in over 50 museums in Ukraine and 13 museums in Kazakhstan, Poland, Russia, the USA, France, and Japan.
Furthermore, his works can be found in private collections in more than 40 countries worldwide.
Throughout his prolific career, the artist has been honored with a Diploma from the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. He has also been awarded the title of Laureate of the V. Vynnychenko International Prize and received a prize at the International Exhibition in Katowice, Poland.
