Claudia Zerbe, nata nel 1957, vive e lavora in Germania. Dopo aver conseguito la maturità nel 1975, ha proseguito gli studi presso FH Hannover per la comunicazione e il design del prodotto, specializzandosi in graphic design e ottenendo il diploma di designer nel 1980.
Utilizza vari mezzi, tra cui conté su cartone, matita su carta, acrilico su carta e gesso su cartone, per creare opere segnate dall'espressionismo e dal figurativo. Le sue influenze artistiche includono maestri come Lovis Corinth, Max Liebermann, Max Slevogt, Käthe Kollwitz, Wilhelm Busch, Horst Janssen e Max Beckmann.
Claudia Zerbe ha lavorato come illustratrice di libri di testo e ha collaborato con diverse agenzie pubblicitarie prima di dedicarsi, dal 1993 al 2021, a una scuola specializzata per lo sviluppo intellettuale, dove ha diretto progetti artistici e giornali scolastici.
Il suo impegno artistico si concentra sui volti umani, cercando di catturare e riflettere la complessità di espressioni ed emozioni come paura, gioia, tristezza, amore, rabbia e disgusto. Per Claudia il disegno è un modo per rivelare l'intensità, la complessità e la profondità dei sentimenti umani, una sfida che persegue fin dai suoi studi.
Vuole che le sue opere tocchino immediatamente gli spettatori a livello emotivo, invitandoli a mettere in discussione le sensazioni che le sue creazioni suscitano in loro e il rapporto tra l'osservatore e l'opera. Questo dialogo tra l'immagine e lo spettatore è al centro del suo lavoro artistico.
