Ha partecipato a numerose mostre personali e collettive in Francia e all'estero ed è stabilmente presente nelle gallerie di Lione. Le sue opere sono state premiate più volte: Premio Speciale del Consiglio della Contea del Rodano nel 2014; Premio Boesner nel 2014; International Art Award di Pechino nel 2016; Medaglia d'oro della giuria e gran premio del Salon de Rive de Gier nel 2017; Premio Speciale della Giuria del Salone Invernale di Lione 2018; Gran Trofeo delle Arti Artisti d'Onore dell'Anno 2018 dalle Edizioni Musei e Cultura; Medaglia d'argento 2019 dell'Associazione francese delle arti, delle scienze e delle lettere.
Jean-Paul Schmitt è nato nel 1947, in Francia. È membro dell'Accademia di pittura di Lione (ALP), dell'Associazione regionale delle arti (ARA) e del Gruppo dei Dodici.
