The International Film Market on Contemporary Artists

The 9th edition of the International Film Market on Contemporary Artists (MIFAC) will take place from March 16 to 19, 2023 at the Espace Franquin in Angoulême.

A festive moment eagerly awaited each year by art lovers and which will once again highlight recent quality films: documentaries shot by passionate directors who compete in imagination and technical prowess through portraits of fascinating and documented artists.

After eight editions at Le Mans (72), MIFAC offers several exceptional highlights this year. The opening night first, on Thursday March 16, with the screening of Catherine Aventurier's film on Vassili Kandinsky and Gabriele Münter. The evening of Friday March 17 then, at the Town Hall of Angoulême, with a tribute paid to the great Senegalese sculptor Ousmane Sow, in the presence of Béatrice Soulé, director. And then the evening of Saturday March 18, with a film dedicated to the internationally renowned painter Gérard Garouste, shot by his son Olivier.

Other highlights include the exhibition devoted to the sculptures of Pierre Riba, as well as the Salon du Livre d'Art which will bring together several specialized publishers.

For four days, nearly thirty documentaries will be screened at Espace Franquin. Don't miss those dedicated to Pierre and Gilles, Gérard Garouste, Jacques Villeglé or Charles Belle. As always this colorful festival, and not stuffy for a penny, will be an opportunity for artists, gallery owners, collectors, directors and art lovers to exchange and build all kinds of projects, during the meetings dedicated to this purpose (signatures, openings, etc.).

Each year, three Prizes (the famous Golden Bricks) are awarded by a Jury made up of personalities from the Art world: a Grand Prize intended to reward a recent film (last 24 months), a Special Jury Prize intended for reward a remarkable film and a Short Prize, dedicated to short films.
