About the author
Steves Bouvier is an emerging contemporary artist working from London in the United Kingdom. b. in 1982 France
The work aims to promote unity, invigorate lives with vibrant colours and generate joy by depicting the making of emotional scenes responding to inspiration emanating from various themes like the shared emotions of coexisting, nostalgia & the proliferation of ideas and still life.
These themes are presented in an abstract-surrealism style, often proposed in the process of being made by giant hands and acted by deformities with human like features like delicate hands and glamorous hair. The artist explains his use of deformities as a vessel for inclusion and by staying away from the actual human figure, hopes we can all find a relation with the work. Adding the “making hands” is a reminder that while things are progressing or regressing, you can always make something different. They also symbolise the viewer’s contribution from outside the tableaux adding sense and value based on personal references. With a polite attitude and wearing colourful “gloves” Steves likes to admit his attempt to seduce viewers with a pleasing aesthetic.
The Shared Emotions of Coexisting series is an ambitious eccentricity where the artist tries to homogenise and convince us that we are more of the same than what we think we are, whilst promoting the preciousness of our poetical individuality.
“We dance in public spaces experiencing each other in reoccurring scenarios, it’s beautiful!”
With Nostalgia & the Proliferation of Ideas series, Steves hopes to connect with people either on similar interests or attempting commissions generated by exchanges on individual symbolism.
“I think it’s healthy to find new ways of keeping the things you love close to you! Nostalgia is full of energy and connects you with existence. What are you emotionally connected to that’s been left in the past and how would that look like as a painting?”
