About the author
Ekaterina Anikina is a collage artist from Eindhoven, born in 1983 in St. Petersburg (Russia).
Ekaterina has graduated from Polytechnic University of St. Petersburg (2001-2007) with a degree in Industrial Design. Before that, she studied in an art school. Living in St. Petersburg, she worked for 15 years as a designer of exhibition stands, forums and other business events. At the same time, she always painted a little and created collages, decors and other art objects, souvenirs and interior items. From time to time, she participated with her works in craft markets.
After moving to the Netherlands 1.5 years ago, Ekaterina focused entirely on collage art.
With the help of their creativity, an artist explores aspects of modern reality: its possibilities, impossibilities, influences on the society and its individuals. When creating her works, Ekaterina compiles own worlds piece by piece from shards of the past and present, and also from their fantastic alternatives. Thanks to the variety of printed sources and their reinterpretation, collages receive a multi-semantic content that encourages reflection and dreams.
