I quadri di Massimo Rubbi nascono dal bisogno di esprimere, attraverso il segno e il colore, emozioni che lasciano intravedere scene infantili e primitive, sviluppate con un tratto "musicale", giochi di figure che si intrecciano quasi a nascondere immagini, che poi appaiono come una intima rivelazione. Proprio la musica, il ritmo e l'improvvisazione nei lavori di Rubbi giocano un ruolo importante attraverso un "primitivismo" caratterizzato da un gesto sensuale e ritmico con il quale l'artista traduce la sua visione onirica della realtà. Il suo segno può' essere accostato, con diversi contenuti, al graffitismo metropolitano di Keith Haring, in cui lo spazio di fondo, spesso monocromatico, è sapientemente riempito di piccoli oggetti o figure caratterizzati da colori primari e contorni netti senza mai sovrapporsi, ma che si accostano quasi a formare un puzzle da cui emerge, a ben guardare, un tema dominante.

Massimo Rubbi è nato a Ferrara nel 1960. Diplomatosi al Conservatorio di Ferrara nel 1980, ha proseguito con studi di composizione, sempre presso il medesimo Conservatorio, e di musica jazz al Conservatorio di Bologna.
Ha collaborato come compositore di commenti musicali per le reti Mediaset e Odeon TV. Attualmente è insegnante di musica nella scuola secondaria di I° grado.
Solo di recente ha rivolto il suo interesse verso la pittura come autodidatta. La sua è ancora una fase di ricerca ed esplorazione dove pur prediligendo il colore ad olio affianca a questo anche l’acrilico.
I suoi temi sono principalmente astratti vengono alternati con lavori figurativi ed echeggianti a figure rituali e primitive..
