Hannah Crouch is a self-taught watercolor artist who resides in Newcastle, Australia. Her passion for art began in her childhood when her grandmother introduced her to painting and encouraged her creative interests. Growing up, Hannah's focus shifted to dance, sports, and athletics, but she rekindled her love for art during her last years of school. Art became her escape from the physical exertion of dance, and she enjoyed the slow pace it brought back to her life.
For her year 12 major project, Hannah drew inspiration from her Japanese heritage and created a collection of postcards featuring highly detailed pen work of Japanese-style illustrations, along with a watercolor scroll and 700 folded mini origami cranes. Her grandmother gifted her a professional watercolor set to assist with the project.
Although Hannah exclusively works with watercolors, the Japanese woodblock style inspired her to develop a new painting style that is realistic yet stylized, with a focus on the aesthetics of contours, lines, and colors. After finishing school, Hannah met and married her husband, and they welcomed their first baby the following year.
