About the author
Laurie Plaquet, better known as "La Photografolle", is a passionate photographer whose artistic journey is deeply linked to her personal journey through emotion and sensitivity.
From a young age, Laurie was confronted with prejudices about her sensitivity and emotions. She was often told not to cry over small things or to stop being so emotional. She felt the pressure of having to put her emotions aside and become “stronger.” However, she always found refuge in the world of broadcasting, using stills and video cameras to capture precious moments with family, friends and the people she loved. Creating video montages was her way of expressing her emotions and feeling understood. For her, photography and video were channels to externalize her emotional tumult.
The year she turned 23, Laurie went through a devastating depression that forced her to confront her pent-up emotions. That's when she discovered the concept of "hypersensitivity" and realized she was a perfect example of it. She understood that her sensitivity was neither an illness nor an abnormality, but rather a natural characteristic of her personality. This discovery inspired her to break the taboos surrounding mental health issues, particularly depression and anxiety disorders.
Today, Laurie uses photography as a form of therapy and artistic expression. It’s her way of challenging stereotypes and showing that sensitivity is a strength, not a weakness. His photos are a reflection of his deep emotions, his life experiences and his quest for self-understanding. For her, photography brings joy, relief and a sense of belonging. She feels understood through her art and finds comfort in the community she has created.
Laurie Plaquet embodies a welcome form of madness, overflowing passion and total authenticity. She refuses to conform to conventional expectations and prefers to follow her heart. Her message is clear: be yourself, even if that means crying a lot, doing things a little strange, or appearing eccentric in a world that can sometimes seem uncaring. Maintaining your touch of madness is essential to living an authentic and fulfilling life.
