About the author
Michèle Goumain is a contemporary French artist. He joined the Nicolas Poussin workshop in Montparnasse after an active professional life ranging from advertising to tableware and décor, where he was introduced to various drawing and painting techniques by experienced painters from the École Boulle and the Arts Décoratifs.
Goumain’s work, whether flat or in volume, progresses towards simplification. He gradually frees himself from details, allowing him to benefit from a larger, more synthetic vision. The gesture remains precise as abstraction approaches.
His sculptures introduce him to a sensual, voluptuous topic that is a suitable match to the painter's work. However, the curves must fit together and the straight lines must respond to one another in order to create a flowing and harmonic whole that is solid and finished.
Michèle Goumain was born in 1949, in France.
