Marco Lodola, born in 1955 in Dorno, Italy, is a contemporary artist known for his light sculptures and colorful pop art works. After attending the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence and Milan, he founded the New Futurism movement in the 1980s, with artists like Renato Barilli. Lodola stands out for her ability to fuse art with literature, music, cinema and design. He uses plastic materials shaped and colored with acrylic dyes, and integrates light into his works, creating unique light sculptures.
Over the years, he has also explored oil painting, transposing his sculptures onto canvas. The recurring theme of his works is dance, often inspired by musicals. In 2001 he began a collaboration with Giannola Nonino, creating works for the Nonino Literary Prize and other occasions.
His works are exhibited internationally and he has designed sets for films, broadcasts, concerts and events such as the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics and the 2008 Sanremo Festival. He also exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 2009. His Musical collaborations include projects with Max Pezzali and Timoria, and in 2009 he created the Rock'n'Music Planet museum in Milan. Lodola also illustrated novel covers and participated in various projects such as the scenography of shows and installations for Citroën and the Hilton Hotel group.
