Louis-Emile Adan was born in 1839 in Paris, lived and painted there for nearly a century, dieing in 1937.Student of Picot and Cabanel.Exhibited at all of the Salons for a preiod of 75 years , receiving a number of medals , f.i. a gold medal in 1889 and became Chevalier de la Legion d,Honneur in 1892.Took part of the Jury of the Salon and on the committee of the Salon des Artistes Francais.Received the Prix Bonnat in 1931.
Adan was a very versatile and accomplished painter of landscapes , still lifes, a very well known watercolorist and illustrator.Works to be find in museums all over Europe.
